A specimen of quartz in the faden variety. Formed as a highly flattened, tabular crystal with high transparency and a strong, glassy luster. A very thick, contrasting, white growth "string" (faden) runs through the center of the specimen, serving as a textbook example of this crystallographic phenomenon, which resulted from multiple fracturing and healing of the mineral in an active tectonic zone. Main Features: quartz in the faden variety; very thick and distinct growth zone; flattened, tabular habit; high transparency. Condition: Very good. The crystal has retained sharp, clear edges and points, which is rare for such thin, tabular forms.
