## Identification Identification of "Zinccopperite" is impossible without advanced research. Any material with such an appearance requires chemical analysis (e.g., EDS) to determine the exact composition and ascertain whether it is one of the recognized minerals (e.g., zhanghengite) or an anthropogenic alloy. ## Distinguishing from Similar Minerals It can be confused with native gold (much denser and more malleable), pyrite (harder, leaves a black streak), or chalcopyrite (more brittle, often with a greenish patina).

## Genesis Recognized minerals that are natural copper-zinc alloys, such as zhanghengite, have been found in meteorites. Others, like danbaite, occur in ultramafic igneous rocks (chromitites) in association with platinum-group metals. ## Mineral Associations Depending on their genesis, they may coexist with platinum-group minerals, chromite, native iron, graphite, and other rare metallic phases. ## Localities True natural Cu-Zn alloys are extremely rare. Zhanghengite has been identified in the Yanhuitlan meteorite (Mexico), and danbaite in Tibet (China).
