Its name comes from its discovery locality – the historic Monteneve (German: Schneeberg) mining complex in the Passeier Valley in South Tyrol, Italy. ## Applications Due to its extreme rarity and occurrence as microscopic grains, monteneveite has no practical applications. It is solely an object of scientific interest and a valuable acquisition for specialized collectors of microminerals.
