No varieties have been distinguished. ## History and Name Bariosincosite was first described in 2000 by Anthony R. Kamp, John E. Shilton, and Eugene E. Foord. Its name refers to its chemical composition – the presence of barium (Bario-) and its structural similarity to sincosite. ## Applications Bariosincosite has no industrial applications. It is solely an object of interest for collectors specializing in rare minerals and scientists.

Specimens without mechanical damage are rated significantly higher. ## Popular Localities The only source of bariosincosite specimens is the Burro mine in Colorado, USA. All materials available on the collector's market come from this single locality.

Care and storage

## Cleaning Specimens should be cleaned only very carefully, using compressed air to remove dust. Due to the extreme delicacy and small size of the crystals, any mechanical contact, including with brushes or water, should be avoided. ## What to Avoid Contact with water, chemicals, and ultrasound should be absolutely avoided. The mineral is very soft and brittle, and its crystals are susceptible to mechanical damage. It should not be heated or exposed to prolonged sunlight. ## Storage Bariosincosite specimens should be stored in stable conditions, in sealed "micromount" containers that protect them from dust, moisture, and physical damage. Vibrations and shocks should be avoided.
