All features of the Mineral Collection Manager
A toolkit for managing a mineralogical collection - from the first specimen. Hideable fields: simple or deep. Four modules, twenty-seven shipped features.
Data migration and bulk operations for large collections
Pull hundreds of records from spreadsheets, pair photos with specimens, map the collection to Mindat, export to Excel/CSV or plug any system into the public API.
- Bulk specimen import from Excel and CSV - Move hundreds of records from a spreadsheet in minutes. The panel auto-detects columns, maps them to specimen fields and flags duplicates by full_id or a name + locality + size signature.
- Bulk photo assignment to specimens - Drop a whole folder of photos. The panel pairs files with specimens by filename and full_id using fuzzy matching, and you resolve conflicts in the preview list.
- Bulk specimen mapping to the Mindat database - Connect specimens to Mindat in one pass. The panel pulls OpenMindat candidates with a confidence score, filters by country and stores canonical min-{ID}.html links.
- Field Mode - quick offline drafts with photo and locality - At a show, in a quarry or in the car, no signal: snap a photo, type a name and locality, save the draft. Everything lands in IndexedDB and syncs on its own once the panel is back online. Available on Kustosz and Kustosz+ plans.
- Collection export to Excel and CSV - Your data is yours. Export the collection to .xlsx or .csv with field selection and optional provenance history. No vendor lock-in.
- Public collection API - A /v1 REST API for specimens and photos with personal keys, plus change webhooks - your own website, automations in Make or n8n.
Curation and display for serious collectors
Field Mode (offline drafts in the field), layered label editor bound to specimen fields, bulk PDF printing, a public profile under your own domain, subcollections and exhibitions, archive, wishlist, curator follow, Mineral Radar, AI descriptions in PL/EN/ES and Identification Assistant (beta).
- Layered label editor bound to specimen fields - Design labels in a layers panel and bind each element to a specimen field from a dropdown. A4 sheet preview, a default-layouts library and your own presets saved in the database.
- Bulk label printing to PDF - Select dozens of specimens and generate a single PDF with one chosen label template, auto-pagination and QR codes linking to the public specimen cards.
- Built-in specimen photo editor - Crop, rotate, flip and tune brightness, contrast and saturation without leaving the panel. Edits land in the specimen photo slot and are reused on labels, cards and PDFs.
- Public profile and online collection - Share selected specimens with the world under your own link. A gallery with mineral and country filters and a choropleth world map of the countries of origin.
- Custom domain for your public collection - Plug in your own domain and present the collection under your brand. DNS setup is guided in the panel; the SSL certificate is issued by Cloudflare.
- Specimen wishlist with a shareable link - List the gaps in your collection with preferred localities, offer links and notes, then share the wishlist with a dealer or friend through a private token link.
- AI-generated specimen descriptions - AI drafts specimen descriptions in PL, EN and ES from the mineral name, locality and parameters. You choose the section structure in preferences (up to four) and freely edit the output.
- Identification Assistant (beta) - photos, locality, discriminating questions - Unknown species? Upload specimen photos, add locality and traits, and the beta assistant runs differential diagnosis: candidates, follow-up questions (including I don't know), then one species name with a confidence percent. Prefill Add specimen, or report an incorrect ID to help tune the beta.
- Specimen archive - soft-hide without deleting - Move sold, duplicate or outdated records into Archive. They leave the active list and stop using plan slots, and you can restore them in one click - photos and history stay intact.
- Subcollections - curated narrative buckets - Group specimens thematically (e.g. Sold, Tsumeb, UV) independently of physical cabinets. One specimen can belong to many subcollections. On the public gallery you expose selected ones as tabs - with a Subcollections only option so they stay out of All.
- Follow other curators and their public collections - On a public collection page click Follow - new public specimens and activity land in your Start feed. Following is private: no public follower counts.
- Mineral Radar - filter public new arrivals - Set Radar rules in the Start feed: mineral, locality, group, class or tag. Autocomplete pulls values from existing public specimens. Radar combines with followed profiles, gems and Editor's Choice.
Capital protection and analytics for collectors
An insurer-ready PDF in one click, a previous-owners timeline per specimen and four analytical views of the collection.
- Insurance PDF report of the collection - Generate a PDF for your insurer with a specimen list, photo, ID, purchase prices and an optional current valuation. Totals summed per currency, no manual arithmetic.
- Specimen ownership history - Record the chain of previous owners for each specimen and attach a label photo to every entry. A full provenance trail is one of the main value drivers in collector mineralogy.
- Collection statistics - four analytical views - Four tabs: a general dashboard, financials, collection quality (Mohs hardness, crystal systems, rarity) and an interactive world map. Clicking a chart slice filters the collection.
Physical space mapping - your collection, digitally twinned
Cabinets and shelves as a digital twin, configurable views, per-user field visibility, sensitivity chips and per-cabinet maintenance reminders.
- Cabinet and shelf mapping for the collection - A digital twin of your cabinets and shelves: add a cabinet, define shelves and assign specimens to placements. Filter the collection by container to see what sits where.
- Configurable collection views with save slots - Gallery, dense table or cards - switch layout in a second. Save views with your own filter and sort setup to your account and return with one click.
- Field visibility and your own value dictionaries - We do not force you through a hundred fields. Hide most built-in technical fields and keep a short, simple form - or turn on full mineral-specific depth when you need it. Plus your own value dictionaries with autocomplete.
- Your own specimen fields - plan limits 0 / 1 / 5 / 10 - Define your own fields (text, number, date, single/multi select, checkbox) and use them like the built-ins - in the table, cards, filters, sorting, export, public specimen page and printed labels. Limits: Hobby 0, Enthusiast 1, Curator 5, Curator+ 10.
- Specimen sensitivity and storage tips - Each cabinet card shows sensitivity chips - light, humidity, temperature, radioactivity, hygroscopicity - with per-species condition suggestions from the built-in knowledge base.
- Per-cabinet maintenance reminders - Set per-cabinet maintenance reminders by an interval in days or on a specific date. Notifications surface in the panel and, optionally, in your inbox.
